The 100's of thousands is "user days". So if someone goes for
5 days, he counts as 5. No way there are a 1/4 of a million people at Osh at any one time. Have you ever taken a chopper ride at the peak time of day over the grounds? Have you ever seen a verified count of 100 thousand plus at one place, at one time? I have, on both accounts. Don't be so sure about that 250,000. I'll bet they come closer than you think. -- Jim in NC Yes, the pub'd number is "attendance days," but at 250,000 it now appears consistent with the financial statements they've been sending to the IRS. But, it's also now true that a significant % of this number includes exhibitors, vendors, and volunteers who are all there for longer than the show is officially open. A teenager working for good old Zaug's might be an enthusiast, but the issue with the media has always been how many "airplane enthusiasts" - unique people, not attendance-days - go there? Interesting also is how EAA told media that reduced aircraft attendance could be due to increased avgas prices. This comes from EAA officials who should know that gas prices are typically an accepted fact of flying life and many experimentals burn mogas, and who may not appreciate how much it costs in total to attend.
