The audio from the overhead speakers are fine, but the audio from the
headset is very weak. I have to turn the volume to max, but then I get a lot of distortion and can hardly understand the transmission. The results are the same from both radios. The problem is not with the headset, because the results are the same on two different headsets. The outgoing transmissions seem to be fine also. Before I take the airplane to an avionics shop, I wanted to ask the group if I am overlooking something obvious. |

Is the problem the same switching from COM1 to COM2 on the same
frequency? If so I would think that that would rule out the audio panel and maybe narrow it to the radio itself. Just guessing though. You may have already done this, but what you need to do is test your headset
without any other headsets plugged in. Try the same thing with your other headset. If both headsets work OK when they are plugged in separately, your problem may be an impedance mismatch. Try to borrow another headset exactly like your primary headset, and plug both of them in at the same time. If that works OK, it probably is an impedance mismatch problem. If you do find an impedance mismatch, the simplest solution is to just make sure all of your headsets are identical. Or, you can check the manufacturers spec sheets and make sure whatever you buy is close in impedance to what you have. "Andrew Sarangan" wrote in message om... The audio got so bad that I could not make out any incoming
transmissions. I annoyed a I took it to an avionics ship, and it turned out to be a bad capacitor behind the audio panel. It got fixed, but it cost me $300. "Bill Denton" wrote in message ...
