From Aerokurier: Plastic winch cable now in series production
----------------------------- After a year of testing at AeC Landau the Lippmann Tauwerk GmbH has begun production of Dyneema as a winch-towing cable. Lippmann Tauwerk has developed the necessary braiding and coating of the "Dynatec Hoistline" plastic cable for use in winch-launching. The big advantage of the new cable is its low weight. It weights just one eighth of conventional steel cable with the same breaking strain. The lower weight is reflected in greater tow heights and (where possible) in longer cable runs. ------------------------------ Dyneema is the European marketing name for Spectra.
