neato tape they had at Oshkosh

They were showing this non-adhesive type tape at Oshkosh and the stuff
sure seemed to stick to itself well and seemed to be the ticket for
wire bundles, etc.

Forgot the name- can anyone help me out here? Can it be bought in the
US and if so where? How does this work in the real world (outside of
the booth and without the salesman with the accent)?

In the Air Farce we called it F-4 tape. It's available at Radio Shaft for
about $10 a roll (1 yard?). I buy mine on ebay when it shows up. It tends
to cost $20 for four rolls. Look for silicone tape.


B&C Specialties sells it for $2 per 1 yard roll.

I wasn't at OSK but I think that you are talking about cold
vulcanizing (or cold fusion) tape. It comes in two types the regular
black stuff and a high temp silicon version. I use it all the time for
among other things making strain reliefs on connectors.
Just unroll what you need pull the backing off and stretch it around
the bundle a couple of turns.After a few hours it is a solid piece of
rubber like material.
Try any good electronic or electric supply house they should carry
it and alot cheaper than Radio Shack. I think I paid around $5.00 a
1"X 60" roll for the regular stuff.
