Day 2 was changed while we were in the air. A large fire to the North
west of Seminole put a large smoke trail into the air. This large smoke trail crossed our paths to the first turn which was to the, ya, North. So a task change to a assigned task with #28 which is East and then 33 which is Winterhaven, Flordia's airborn sink hole. On the second leg, a TFR over Disney came into play. Folks, read the rules. The CD, who even talked about it, still, some flew in it, got what the rules say your going to get. Those of us who left early saw the high clouds coming in from the SW and knew getting home could become a problem. The first leg went good, its only 15 miles away, so turning was not REALLY needed. On the second leg to that sink hole, # 33. was good with good climbs. With a SW wind now blowing, KS was on my righ, 2W was on my left. Mee sees the hawk above me, they didn't, I climbed, and that was my glide home. DB, wins the day, started about 7 minutes behind us. He starts with # 41, and several others, who start at 5 thousand, where we started at 4,000. Ya, 1,000 ft. on a short task is hard to beat. So DB wins the day, 44, then BC. Now a few words about BC, hes 79 years young, second contest. OK, he's happy and didn't carry a fruit bag, but he did good. 5U, DUO, X3, #711. Yesterday was no fly, and today Wednesday, Mar 9th, rain day. Don't know about Thursday, but Friday and Saturday are looking good. The top 10 are 5U, DJ, DB, DUO, KS, OE, 711, BC, 2W, A1. Last nit we had a BBQ with chicken, Ribs and other good stuff. Thermal tight, Soar high, Fly safe. # 711 reporting. |

Tom,
Thanks alot for the reporting. I'm living down here in Nevis, West Indies and so this is the only way I can get reporting on the contests (though I can see the scores on the SSA website). I still get excited reading about you guys having all the fun and I can't wait to get back to the states and buy another sailplane and start racing again. Anyway, thanks again for the good reporting...it keeps me sane down here. Tim McNamara "TM" wrote in message oups.com... Day 2 was changed while we were in the air.
