FAA Information on Tow Plane Hitches

Posting this to help people find info on adding tow hooks to airplanes.

I occasionally get direct email inquiries on tow plane hitch installations because of posts I made long ago about installing a tow hitch on a Cessna 180 using the Javelin STC. I have no expertise, I'm just trying to help others in their search for relevant info.

In cleaning out old paperwork I came across FAA/FS Document FAA/FS-I-8700-1 "Information for Banner Towing Operations" that describes and illustrates installing hitches on leaf-sprung tail wheel aircraft. I had an older version, but the 2018 document (similar) revision-1 is online as of this posting..

ALSO I did find a link to the older Advisory Circular AC 43.13-2b that has pictures of tow hitch installations and seems to authorize a field approved installation of a tow hook on leaf-spring-type conventional gear in Chapter 8.
