Every day these noisy, small private planes from
Palo Alto airport destroy my living space. They fly too low, and this causes their low frequency motor noise to enter my home and drive me crazy. Especially on weekend days, there is either one plane entering or leaving my airsapce, so there is a constant level of airplane nosie. I was happy to read that this airport is a money loser, and it might be shut down, but not until 2017, when the lease is up. Is there a way to shut this nuisance down any sooner? |

That airport opened in 1935, after noise complaints forced it to move from its original location in Stanford. Why should it be forced to close or move again because people moved near the new airport? If your family owned the place prior to 1935, you have a valid complaint. If not, I'm sorry -- the airport was there first. -- Garner R. Miller ATP/CFII/MEI Clifton Park, NY =USA= |

![]() "Jimmy B." wrote Also, don't be in too much of a hurry to see an airport close, more often than not they build other, even noisier industrial projects in the airport space. And smelley, too! -- Jim in NC |

Go take some flying lessons, now when you hear the planes you will remember
the joy it brought you. Now instead of hating the planes you will love them. This could improve your sex life. wrote in message ups.com... ![]() Palo Alto airport is bordered on the northeast by the San Francisco Bay, to the southeast by a water treatment plant and garbage dump, to the south by an industrial park, to the west by a golf course, and to the northwest by a slough and industrial area beyond that. Residential areas exist about a mile away, west of the golf course and west of the slough. I'm sure some people who live there don't appreciate the noise, but, damn, if PAO is an unacceptable siting, what place is? Is people seriously started talking about closing it, I'd seriously freak out! -- dave j |

George Patterson "Naked" means you ain't got no clothes on; "nekkid" means you ain't got no clothes on - and are up to somethin'. Some years ago I read the complaints on a local anti-aviation website that were intent on closing "my" airport. One of the longer complaint stories was written by a family who considered themselves terrorised by our planes; but if one dug through the whole history of their sufferings, it turned out they had recently moved here from the vicinity of *another* airport, and were appalled that there was again an airport close to their new home, obviously set on irritating them again. Now, if I was so aggravated by noise that I had to move, I'd make damned sure I moved well *away* from any airport, and not 'by chance' put myself in the same situation again. But not these guys. My take is they bought cheap 'noisy' property, then started a local anti-avaition campaign to oust the airport, and by this hoped to raise the property value in time for their next move. /Rolf |
