I'm headed up there on Sat to the NWEAA Fly-In at Arlington, WA (KAWO).
Anyone else going? It's my first trip there and I'm looking forward to seeing the Sportsman 2+2 that will be there on display. Coming from the south, I will also transit the Bravo airspace fir the first time with my instructor. ![]() Chris |

For me, getting into the Class B was pretty rare. Mostly it happened on IFR flight plans. Don't be surprised if you have to go around. I prefered going up the West side of the Class B, transiting the Tacoma Narrows (TIW) class D. Where are you flying from? Enjoy Arlington. When I went, I drove up from Seattle but it was fun sitting in the RV-7 making airplane noises. Morris (maybe next year) |

![]() The best way to transit Seattle area from the south is direct OLM, direct PAE, and stay under the class B. Even if you talk to Seattle approach you will end up with more or less the same routing. I never even received a routing over SEA for my IFR trips. In reading the NOTAMs and talking with my instructor, I tihnk my route
is going to be (more or less), SLE-UBG-HIO-SPB-KSL-TDO-1S0-Lake Tapps (E. VFR Transition Rte)-S43-Green Valley-AWO. It's going to be busy enough Sat morning that I'll be hoppin' ![]() Chris M wrote: The best way to transit Seattle area from the south is direct OLM, direct PAE, and stay under the class B. Sadly, I'm not going to be able to be there on Friday evening. I'm
getting ready for my trip to AWO and going to a local Oregon Pilots Assoc meeting. Chris tony roberts wrote: Hi Chris Go to http://www.pacificnorthwestflying.com you'll find out all about our Friday night get together at Arlington, then come on over. Hope to see you there Tony |

There may be fog or low clouds Saturday (or any day, for that matter ![]() in advance where they will be. Often they are over the water, and staying east along the foothills is a good tactic, but sometimes it's not so much the clouds as the visibility, which can be pretty bad up against the foothills, while still reasonably decent over the Sound. In other words, either plan could be superior, and you won't know until just before takeoff which one is. ![]() Pete |

Yea, if it is not good weather (really good, so my dad says) then we are
not going. While I understand that and appreciate that, it's also kind of frustrating because he wants to make his go/no-go decision Friday afternoon when Sat AM may have a totally different perspective. While I understand that and appreciate that, it's also kind of frustrating because he wants to make his go/no-go decision Friday afternoon when Sat AM may have a totally different perspective. What's the reason for making the decision so early? Are there alternative plans that need that much advance notice? In this sort of weather (humid, at least for the Northwest), it's nearly impossible to predict with certainty what the fog/cloud situation will be 12 hours in advance. Inasmuch as even a "go" decision on Friday may have to change to a "no-go" Saturday morning, why not also allow for the possibility of changing a "no-go" decision to a "go" decision, if the weather is better than forecast? Just curious... Pete |
