![]() dear fellow pilots: the aopa mag just stated that ads-b went live in parts of the east coast. I presume this means that they are broadcasting weather on it for free. is this the case? (what weather? nexrad?) if so, is there a list of equipment that can play with it? I see only the garmin gdl-90, for about $8,000. anything else that can go into an experimental? sincerely, /iaw |

![]() doesn't give me equipment and is pretty vague on the weather capabilities... given that it is online now on the east coast, I was hoping there would be more info now. /iaw |

![]() ....and it is actually becoming more interesting, because according to the AOPA website, the FAA has now already begun to switch off TIS over mode-S. lovely---I have literally just bought a GTX-327. it would be real nice to determine what ADS-B can do today and where. /iaw |

(what weather? nexrad?) If you're near NC, there are some demos set up for August: http://www.ncdot.org/transit/aviatio...dar/aug05.html I atteneded one of the demos and got a free demonstration flight. There was nexrad, METARS and TAFs, traffic. The equipment was MX20 display and Garmin GDL-something. The weather feed comes from WSI and there is no subscription charge for ads-b users.
