Hello all,
I need a four-place/station/headset, battery-powered [ergo portable], intercom. It must be delivered no later than Aug 30, 'cause I'm leaving on a trip the next AM. Yes, I have Googled a lot of sources and I'll be on the phone in the morning. What I need from you guys and gals is info on one or more sources that you know can deliver in a hurry. Keep the shiny side up and the prop(s) turnin', Casey |

If you can afford it, PS Engineering AeroCom III with an expansion box. |

I've used plenty of portable intercoms, and haven't found one any better than the David Clark DC-200. In addition to outstanding clarity, it has audio out, audio in, ship's power input, and redundant batteries, should one of them die on you in flight. I have a DC-200 and expansion module (to make it 4 place) that I might be willing to part with for a reasonable sum, since I have a panel-mount in the airplane. JKG |

Jonathan,
I've used plenty of portable intercoms, and haven't found one any better than the David Clark DC-200. Was a PSE among them? If so, I'd be really surprised about that judgement. Yes, and you can be surprised. The David Clark is simply oustanding, but it's also probably the most expensive portable intercom on the market. I honestly don't know what I was thinking when I bought it, but I can tell you that the backup battery was a consideration. Not sure if anyone else does that now, but at the time, I don't think anyone else did. I haven't made a decision yet on selling the unit, as it was expensive and I occasionally do have use for it. It probably doesn't pay me to sell it, only to have to buy another portable intercom later on. JKG |

Jonathan,
Yes, and you can be surprised. I am. I've tried both, and my preference for the PSE was easy to arrive at. The automatic squelch alone is worth the, IIRC, lower price of the PSE Aerocom. Anything from DC is way overpriced, IMHO. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |
