Are there any good websites out there that summarize by state what their
sales taxes or property tax rates are for aircraft purchases? |

Virginia has a 3% sales tax with credit to any out of state sales tax you paid. The property tax varies with jurisdiction and is paid annually (has nothing to do with the purchase). |

The Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts recently stopped collecting sales tax
on aircraft. I paid 5% in 2000. "John Doe" wrote in message news:yiD3f.3300$L24.2829@lakeread01... Are there any good websites out there that summarize by state what their sales taxes or property tax rates are for aircraft purchases? |

Yeah, that's good and all, but all the pertanent info is password protected Mea culpa, but I have the doc. Heck with them attempts deny good info to nonmembers. Google can backdoor stuff, probably how I got it. Google in quotes "NBAA State Aviation Tax Report" Look for the westernavation.com link. Click on HTML, not the link. Fred F. |

In many states.. it matters not where you purchase.. but where it is based
or where the owner resides.. California had a rule that if purchased and remained outside the state for 6 months.. you could avoid CA tax... but the Good ole Govn'r changed that one... no more dodging the tax man.. ![]() That's one reason a/c are often owned by a corp. You can buy/sell shares without sales tax issues. -- A host is a host from coast to & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433 |

In Texas there is no property tax for personal use aircraft & if you
purchase the plane from a private seller or out of state then there's no sales tax due either :-) Mike -- To most people, the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home. - anon. |
