We're supposedly heading for Lansing, MI, so spend a few days with my
sister. Given the wonderful weather on the lee-side of Lake Michigan at this time of year, our fall-back trip is to Minneapolis, to visit Mr. and Mrs. Montblack for a day or two. If the weather *really* sucks, we'll hole up in the house and eat turkey till we pop. Anyone going anywhere cool? -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Jay, I sure hope that Larry Diarrhea doesn't jump all over you like he did me a year ago when I ask where people were going for New Years (I think it was New Years). BTW, we are staying here in town to eat with the in-laws... Lot's of good food there, but I have to work the night before and Thanksgiving night anyways, so it will be cut short. |

My only joy flying commercially is while waiting forever saying to other pilots "Part 121 sucks" and getting a nod and big grin. I think the cold turkey sandwich I had last night while enroute from CIC to SQL with george flying will be more fun. A friend/co-worker and I flew up to Chico for a Bela Fleck & Edgar Meyer concert. He was running late dealing with traffic. We took off and he said, "That was smooth. wow, that traffic below us REALLY sucks." I replied, "yea, you should see the traffic going over the Golden Gate Bridge. Fortunately we won't have to deal with any traffic." A quick 1:15 minute flight up there. He called on his cell phone and had a taxi waiting for us. The guy said, "Huh, I didn't know airlines flew in this late. Why are all the lights off in the terminal." ![]() the lights were going down. Perfect timing. Got in the plane going back, had a really smooth flight back. My biggest fear was having a mouth of turkey while ATC is vectoring me all over the place with nothing around. Fortunately it didn't happen. Gerald |

After leaving the bridge, Kirk hears a strange sound outside the ship and opens the viewing port. To his surprise, he briefly sees the faces of a crowd, which quickly fade into stars." To Mom's in Houston as usual.
Last year we arrived during a rush and got wedged in amongst the rapid-fire stream of 737s into Hobby. The Houston controllers are very used to this--there's a lot of light GA at Hobby--and do a great job. If it's VMC, this is some fun flying, as you get a vectored sightseeing tour of the city on the way in. If it's IMC, expect a workout. You will have to fly a STAR into town, followed by a bunch of vectors and stepdowns, maybe finishing with a side-step off the approach--but, heck, all that stuff's fun, too. -- Dan C172RG at BFM |

I sure hope that Larry Diarrhea doesn't jump all over you like he did me a
year ago when I ask where people were going for New Years (I think it was New Years). Now there's something wrong with talking about flying in a piloting forum? *sigh* I liken Larry to a Usenet Fox Terrier. You know, the kind of dog that grabs onto your slippers and gives 'em a good shake once in while. Sorta cute to watch, in all of its puffed up frenzy, but generally harmless. :-) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

To Mom's in Houston as usual.
Wonderful. Have a safe and happy holiday! On a serious note: To all you who are blithely heading off to spend time with your family over this Thanksgiving holiday, please stop to realize that there will come a time in your life where you would do *anything* to spend just one more boring Turkey Day with your folks. I think of all the times that I childishly bitched and moaned about "how awful" the holidays were, and weep at the realization that I could have spent so much more time actually getting to know my Mom and Dad better. Don't waste a minute. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |
