Shiflet Field (Marion, NC) have given permission to use their facility
March 19 through March 26, 2006 for the purpose of flying in the lee wave of Mt. Mitchell. Shiflet is a very flat, broad grass strip of almost 4,000 feet. We have had three successful camps and look forward to yet another. Please encourage a few more individuals to commit and we can still make a go of this, need just a few more pilots to commit to reach critical mass to. I've attended this twice before and had a great time, several pilots have gotten their badge altitudes there. It is a beautiful area for both wave and thermal flights. [I think] Mt. Mitchell is the highest point east of the Rockies, and it is nice to fly right over the blue ridge parkway. It is a great group and a nice place to fly. If you have any interest please do join - but you need to act quickly. please contact Jay Campbell O: 803-980-5142 F: 803-980-5857 regards, Chris Ruf |
