Hi,
I'm guessing that someone on this newsgroup will have a quick answer to this technical question. It is my understanding that Schleicher uses battery power connectors that have 2 spade connectors in a "T" arrangement with one oriented vertically and one oriented horizontally. On 2 occasions customers have asked me if I can supply them. I'd like to buy them in quantity and sell them. Does anyone know the brand or type or a good source? Thanks, Paul Remde Cumulus Soaring, Inc. http://www.cumulus-soaring.com |

But that is not what he asked. Those are not compatible. He in

I managed to buy a few of what I believe are the original German style connectors as Paul describes at the recent BGA annual conference. The were on sale by RD Aviation (now part of AFE ). I suggest you contact Peter at the RD pilot shop at Oxford Airport (telephone 44 1856 841441 or ) who can either supply them or tell you where to get them in bulk. Neil |

Paul,
The issue of compatibility is a little fuzzy. I've used U.S. connectors that are very close to the German ones: not sure of brand/PN but they were blister packed (not sure I even have the package anymore). The trick was that the metal connectors mated just fine but, IIRC, the plastic shells were slightly larger. So the German plug would fit in the U.S. socket (referring only to the shell, not the pins themselves) but not vice versa. I used them throughout the glider so I just had to make sure I used a genuine German plug wherever there was a German socket already installed. I say "all over the glider" because I installed these on the instruments and batteries so that I could yank a flight computer out of the instrument panel and plug it into a battery for bench testing without having to use patch cords and alligator clips. I've spent too many nights at contests in the past chasing problems with varios, flight computers, and radios and I figured these connectors were a lot faster than removing leads from terminal strips, etc. Of course, in the 14 years since I installed all this, I've used it exactly once. Oh, well. Chip Bearden ASW 24 "JB" |

My notes show AMP makes the connector: * AMP receptacle part numbers 926474 and 180407 * AMP tab part number 180908 Allegedly carried by Farnell (www.farnell.com), part number 964-839. I've never tried to get any from them. -- Change "netto" to "net" to email me directly Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA www.motorglider.org - Download "A Guide to Self-launching Sailplane Operation" |

Paul,
I bought connectors at a local electonics store which matched exactly to the battery packs in my LS8/18. if the previous info doens't work you could call: Orvac Electronics, Fullerton, CA. If you still can't get the info. I will probably be going by there next week to purchase new batteries.
