Just got this from Greg Davison at the FAA. I had inquired about the
last update, where he said the 3,000 hour inspection procedure was in the works at Centrair and should be available within a couple of months. Hi, Mark: I'm sorry to say I've seen no progress in the issue of a service life extension. I can only go by what Centrair tells me. I have requested assistance from the european aviation authority (EASA) to look into the operations of Centrair but this may take a while. I have also requested assistance from our FAA international coordinator to determine what actions (if any) we can take. Since the U.S. has an agreement with France (and now EASA) in coordinating and certifying airplanes (and gliders), it would be difficult for us (FAA) to take action against Centrair unless the French authority and EASA reacts. I wish I had better news for you. Sincerely, Gregory Davison Glider Program Officer FAA Small Airplane Directorate |
