Default Wisconsin Airports with nearby Resaurants

This past Sunday, my wife, son, and I met the Midwest hopping Honeck family
in Baraboo, WI for a mid afternoon buffet at the Ho-Chunk Indian Casino.
Baraboo is technically on the south end of Wisconsin Dells as indicated by
airport and VOR identifiers KDLL / DLL.

The casino is only a mile up the road from the airport, well within walking
distance, but with a phone call the casino will send their courtesy van to
pick you up and will return you to the airport after your belly is full. If
you're time is limited, you may wish to call the FBO when 10 miles out to
have them page the courtesy van as it was over 20 minutes before the van
showed up at the FBO.

Food: fair to good, nothing outstanding but plenty of variety

Atmosphe surprisingly typical of a larger casino (sans show girls) but
amazingly smoke filled, no evidence of any air cleaners or smoke removal
system unless it was located in the gaming rooms and pumped the smoke into
the lobby and restaurant

Highlights: The over two story tall artificial water falls, trees, and
nature setting in the main lobby. Watching a small MetLife blimp pass over
the airport and the casino area doing strange steep climb and descent
maneuvers.

Back at the airport, while roaming around the small FBO lobby reading the
bulletin boards and miscellaneous postings, Jay pointed out a State of
Wisconsin Department of Trans, Aviation publication that I've simply taken
for granted in the past. It was a listing of local points of interest,
restaurants, golfing, camping, and hotels surrounding Wisconsin's airports.

Here is the link:
http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/library...ir/2005poi.pdf The
title is dated 2005 however it seems to have been updated through 1/9/2006.

Enjoy and fly safe.
Jim
