Brain...
It does not...nowhere in the FAR. But, you must have the following rating to fly IFR/IMC in a sailplane: PVT or higher airplane Instrument rating Airplane, either ASE or AME or ATP Airplane, again ASE or AME The currency requirements are for carrying passengers only... But again, I STRESS!!!!!! Be current & proficient, not just having the rating. Trust me! There is a large difference thermalling under a strong Cu..at 6-12 kts and transition into the cloud IMC...you must have your head right! Gyro instruments are needed....especially an attitude indicator. 2 methods can be used, the straight thermal transition or the seek & go method. Usually the seek & go is used on a very large Cu....this method is the best to deal with icing. Drop a note.. Shawn |
