![]() "Aluckyguess" wrote in message ... http://kevinandrews.com/1967_cheroke...r_sale__as.htm I hope it ok to post this in here. If I were trying to sell an airplane, I would: 1. Read the FAQ's or even just ask first 2. Provide contact information on the webpage 3. Learn to write HMTL properly, or in this case use Front Page properly 4. Resize pictures so that they fit on the screen and load quicker 5. Use lower case letters instead of all caps --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. I hope it ok to post this in here. Is it your plane? If so, what's the story? If not, what's the story? http://kevinandrews.com/1967_cheroke...r_sale__as.htm FIX THIS!! Everything should fit 800x600 :-) My input: It is NOT ok - since relevant story is missing and that website is evil. BTW, your saving grace: 1. The asking price was included in the link. g 2. ... http://kevinandrews.com/1967_cheroke...r_sale__as.htm FIX THIS!! Everything should fit 800x600 :-) Sounds like someone whose eyesight has gotten so bad that they are having to use the computer equivalent of the "big print" books... grin Since you mentioned it, I figured I would check out the site... My laptop is running 1024x768 (physical screen resolution limit) and is acceptable to me from a screen real estate standpoint... I don't like having to go down to 800x600 for some older laptop screens... The only thing that can be said for 800x600 is that it beats the 'ell out of 640x480... Of course, 640x480 beats the 'ell out of the PDA screens... I've recently been working on a GPS program for a PDA-type device and I find it difficult to display all the information that I want to display at the same time on the real estate that I have available on it... Even at 1024x768, his images are too large... Perhaps he was wanting to create a single page that could be printed and posted as flyers around the airports... In my opinion, he should rethink this... Layouts that look good on flyers do not necessarily look good as web pages... For a web page, I would suggest smaller images and creating a hyperlink on the picture / thumbnail to bring up the larger image... The smaller images should be true thumbnails, not just using the 'width' and 'height' attributes to resize it at the client side... If you do it that way, the full image still has to be transferred to the client even though only a lower resolution version of it is being displayed... Having everything in all caps is not exactly good style either... One could argue that what is supposed to be capitalized is not and what isn't, is... For example, he mentions "Mp3 PLAYER"... This should have been "MP3" and the rest either not capitalized or perhaps only the first letter of "player" capitalized... One other question is whether the aircraft is really currently being "ANNEALED"? If so, what happened to require this? grin One other bit of information that would be nice is to post where the plane is located... A quick search of the FAA database shows that Kevin is located in Riverside, CA, but it might be nice to include that bit of information on the page... It's also possible that a voice phone number might be useful... |

The contact info isn't set properly and starts on the right side of the screen, then goes over to the left and is overlapping the other text. Same for the "plane hangered its whole life". This is extremely annoying. The pics are still sized around 1120 X 750. I would suggest that you take Grumman-581's advice and make thumbnails that will link to a larger picture. I am not trying to be an ass and nit pick your page, but if I were in the market for a plane, I would be looking for a little more of a professional looking page. It's not hard to do, especially with Front Page. If you need help with any of this, I will be glad to help. --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Since you mentioned it, I figured I would check out the site... My laptop is
running 1024x768 (physical screen resolution limit) and is acceptable to me from a screen real estate standpoint... Well, that's fine if you're giving your entire screen over to the web site. But if you're doing more than one thing at a time, you may not want to do that, and the site should resize itself intellegently with the window. Layouts that look good on flyers do not necessarily look good as web pages. Yep. Web design is not about layout. Put the small picture on the page, and make it clickable (or put a text link) to get the large picture if the user wants to.
