All,
Has anyone ever flown in here? I've heard conflicting reports of being able to just walk over to the rim of the canyon. Does anyone know if it's possible and/or have suggestions? Thanks, Dan |

From the map the rim looks too far to walk to from 1G4.
For an outstanding Grand Canyon tour fly to L41, Marble Canyon and have lunch at the outstanding old historic place there. Then take off and fly to Grand Canyon Airport, south rim. Just follow the altitudes on the chart. You take off at L41 and you are IN the canyon, as you get into the park you have to fly above it, but believe me it is SPECTACULAR! There is a VFR corridor across the canyon at Grand Canyon Airport you can fly, but it's pretty high, I'd just stay on the south rim and fly to 1G4. Spectacular! They've made it so you can't fly IN the canyon in the park. You can fly IN the canyon above the park up around Lake Powell and above Lake Powell. There are TONS of gorgeous sandstone canyons. Just follow the Colorado River from above Moab to Las Vegas. It's quite a trip! A trip to Sedona, Arizona is spectacular also. That place is gorgeous! Especially in the early morning light, coming in from the north at sunrise we came over a ridge and were greeted by flaming red sandstone structures sculpted by God himself.... |

I remember standing in water up to my neck, looking down and counting my toes. -- Jim in NC |
