Dear friends:
I received a very sad call tonight from one of Jack Laister's friends informing me that Jack passed away last night (Sunday 6 p.m. San Bernadino). He had apparently had some cardiac problems and pneumonia and then a stroke and was transferred to a hospital in the San Bernardino area for rehabilitation, but he continued to worsen and passed very peacefully. According to Ron, Jack's friend, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Ron shared with me how much the soaring community meant to Jack, and how he felt a part of our Experimental Soaring Association and Vintage Sailplane Association gatherings here at Mountain Valley Airport. He loved this stuff and lived it in so many magical ways. His history in the sport is legendary. We have lost a very special star in our little world of soaring. It is a sad night indeed. Rest in peace, dear Jack. Fondly, Janice Armstrong |
