In warbird terminology, I believe a "replica" is a completely new aircraft
built as near as possible to original factory specs, with no original, vintage parts at all. Are you saying this P-40 is brand new, or rather that it is a restored P-40E shown in AVG markings? I used to work for Curtiss-Wright in their legal dept, and they were hyper about letting their original plans be used for replica manufacturing, even after the plans were donated to the Smithsonian. The paranoia was due to modern product liability law and the exposure the Company would have allowing WWII designes to be used to get a replica in the air. What would happen if there was a crash, etc. Brian |
