![]() Demographics of American Newspapers 1 The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country. 2 The Washington Post is read by people who think that they run the country. 3 The New York Times is read by people who think that they should run the country, and who are very good at crossword puzzles. 4 USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand the New York Times. They like their statistics shown in pie charts. 5 The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a far superior job of it. 6 The New York Post is read by people who don't care who is running the country as long a they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated. 7 The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country but who need the baseball scores. 8 The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure there is a country... or that anyone is running it, but they oppose all they stand for. There are exceptions if the leaders are handicapped, minority, feminists or dwarfs who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided, of course, that they are not republicans. 9 The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store. 10 The Oregonian is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in. From my Mom, bless her heart. Al G |

... Demographics of American Newspapers 5 The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a far superior job of it. I remember years ago Andy Rooney was comparing Sunday Newspapers. He picked up the Boston Globe and asked "What can you say about a newspaper that comes wrapped in the funny pages?", and set it aside..... |

He is well aware that if he changes the WSJ to much it will be just another newspaper and he will lose his investment. While Fox News may or may not be you cup of tea it filled a gap in news programing hence its sucsess. It's not like all Murdoch media push what may or not be his personal agenda. Fox TV makes fun of Fox News all the time. |

Should Murdoch acquire the WSJ, and the day comes when there is some negative news about one of his companies, do you think the WSJ will be free to publish the story without his censorship? |

Yes, if he knows what's good for him and he probably does. |
