Mary just had an interesting idea.
The grounds are now open for campers in OSH, right? Does anyone know if this includes the North 40, or is it only open to car camping now? If the North 40 is open for campers, we could fly up there next Wednesday, pitch a crappy old tent (to mark our site), and just leave it there till OSH starts. This would ensure a terrific campsite for the rec.aviation HOPS party! I have no idea what they would charge to camp before the show opens. (And, of course, we would no longer be parked together in the North 40...) Knowing EAA, probably the same "arm & leg" they charge *during* the show, which would make it cost-prohibitive, but... Anyone know if the North 40 is open, and what it costs this early? -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Patfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I flew over OSH today. No sign of human life north of Camp Scholar (sp?)
and I honestly couldn't tell of much activity in that area either. Grass is mowed, looks nice, but no sign of anything else. Lots of local air traffic at OSH today. Huge country music fest just west of OSH. Lots of big tents, parking lots were full, and a huge crowd of ant like peoples swarming the stage. Jim "Jay Honeck" wrote in message oups.com... On their Planning Guide
http://www.airventure.org/2007/plann...ning_guide.pdf it lists all the camp grounds together, then the next line says "Camp opens June 22." No distinction between locations, I'd figure they're open. However, since there's so many days until show time, there's a lot of nineteen dollars between now and then. Jay Honeck wrote: Mary just had an interesting idea. ....but...getting to said location the Sunday before the show would
likely be problamatic since they're going to want to park folks in the N-40 on a first come/first serve/next space available basis. |

The way it's done in Vintage is folks come in early (the weekend before should work fine) and pay for their camping (same price) put in tie-downs and mark their spot WELL (try orange tape connecting the tie-downs). When you get to OSH during the show have a sign with your ROW NUMBER on it. If the aircraft parkers know what they are doing they know where those reserved spaces are. Margy |
