Unfortunately the major glider equipment markets are not in the US. I
believe that WinPilot 9.0b complies with the majority of the contest rules in the world although not in the US. But I may be wrong. I guess a couple of pilots could install Flarm in their gliders in the US, team fly and cheat, but is it worth it to win. You may get caught, if WinPilot can read it then it is in the logger NMEA stream. Richard www.craggyaero.com |

I'm familiar with Flarm and its general operation. However, since
Winpilot or SeeYou mobile need to use the Flarm GPS output to obtain the Flarm data for traffic information, I'm curious about which Flarm systems are also IGC approved. Charlie |

At this moment, Colibri 4F and LX7007F, I have no idea whether the traffic info is passed through to the serial data stream... Marc |

The latest version of SeeYouMobile claims to display
FLARM information (including rate of climb of detected targets). Since there is normally only a single datastream into a PDA this implies that FLARM data is embedded in the NMEA datastream, although this may be device dependant. SeeYou would be the people to ask. It is worth reiterating that FAI/IGC do not approve FLARM functionality - only the recording functions of Flight Recorders which may have FLARM capability. That is correct. In order to get this information you need to set FLARM baud rate to 19200 or higher. Henryk Birecki |
