Any suggestions for the repair of a 10-inch crack emanating from the
aft frame member top-center along with a 4-inch crack 3 inches below and 3 1-inch cracks spaced 1 inch apart further down? Does anyone have a repair manual with instructions? thanks, Haven |

I never had much luck repairing cracks, but you can stop the
progression with a red-hot piece of wire shoved in just ahead of where the crack stops. I have used a straightened out paper clip held with vice-grips and heated to red-hot with a cigarette lighter, then shove it right through the plexiglass about 2mm ahead of where the crack stops. This method sears over (melts) the plastic and does a good job of preventing crack creep. Canopy repairs are legal as long as the crack isn't in the pilots view when landing. Does anyone have a repair manual with instructions? thanks, Haven I read a great article in an EAA magazine on how a guy fixed a B-17 top gunners turret bubble canopy that was extensively cracked and had missing pieces using a product called Plastifix. This stuff looks like just what you need as fixing a crack should be a breeze and produce excelent results, plus it is not expensive as a bonus.
