![]() There are still folks loyal to Baathism in-country who want Saddam back: add to that the jihadists that came in prewar and those who've slipped in after over the Syrian and Iranian borders to cause trouble. Anyone notice that the Kurdish region is quiet, and that after a brief spurt of trouble, the Shiite areas are settling down, except for the area that Sadr's thugs are in control of, but he'll be taken down, and then Fallujah will be secured, one way or another. I'll guess that the reason those in Fallujah are fighting so hard is that they're protecting someone or multiple someones. Zarquari or Saddam's ex-right hand Al-Duri would be the best bet. The more of their followers we send six feet under, the better. These are folks who do not want any democracy or elections in Iraq, just more rule by terror and fear, either revived Baathism or a Taliban-style govt. Ain't gonna happen. "Bring it ON!" "~ LITTLE HITLER ~" wrote in message ... 83 U.S. Troops Killed in Iraq in April ROBERT BURNS Tue, Apr. 13, 2004 Associated Press WASHINGTON - For American forces in Iraq, these are the deadliest days of the war. At least 83 U.S. troops have been killed in action so far this month, with the most recent death announced on Tuesday. Also this month, more than 560 have been wounded and two soldiers were declared missing. At least four American civilians were killed, one contractor was captured by gunmen and six others were missing and feared abducted. The number wounded so far in April exceeds the total for any other full month of the war by more than 220. Even the opening days of the conflict, while deadly and tense, were not as costly in American blood. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/new...8423634.htm?1c Posted via www.My-Newsgroups.com - web to news gateway for usenet access! |
