This weekend is the 5th anniversary of my life as a licensed glider
peelot. I've long forgotten who pointed me to RAS at that time but two things I remember from surfing these hallowed gleans back then are (1) John Shelton is my comedic hero. Pez D. Spencer was a spooky model of my first year flying gliders (he was a better peelot but I got the girl). Newer pilots (especially those with any interest in contests) absolutely must visit http://www.soaravenal.com/pez.htm with cocktail in hand. Great stuff, that. (2) I miss Lennie the Lurker. What a hoot. Searching back into the deep dark early years of r.a.s. reveals an age when folk spoke freely and used their real names at the same time (Lennie excepting of course). Ah, maybe again someday. Ted Wagner ASG29 "2NO" |
