John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Ahhhhh. Harry Truman provided military transport to move French troops back into what was then French Indo China (Vietnam) shortly after the Japanese surrender -- 1945 maybe. Apparently he was blackmailed by the French. "Either US supports France in Vietnam or France won't join NATO." Every president since escalated that charming war. Nixon escalated it more than any other president -- but ultimately he did get us out. A little history. Quent |
