I've been using Parallels to run Windows on my MacBook laptop so I can
run SeeYou and I've found it works really well and at very good speed. More recently I've tried one of the WINE implementations, called Crossover: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ It allows you to run Windows apps natively on the Mac - no Windows or virtualization software required. It simply translates the OS calls from what the program needs from Windows into what the Mac expects. It doesn't run perfectly (SeeYou is not even a supported app), but it runs well enough that I've loaded it on my iMac. The only significant drawback is that it doesn't support SeeYou's 3D mode. I expect other Windows-based soaring software will also run if you have the need. If anybody knows of a WINE implementation that works better (e.g. supports 3D graphics) I'd love to hear about it. 9B |
