I hope I have the acronym written correctly. Does anyone know of a book
written about the Allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit, SouthEast Asia? This was a unit that tested captured Japanese aircraft in that region. I just saw a reference that indicates they were using Japanese pilots to test or ferry Japanese aircraft in 1946!? How long did the unit exist? John Dupre' |

John Dupre' Try Phil Butler's book War Prizes (Midland Counties Publications, Leicester, England 1994). He has a chapter on British Activities in the Far East and talks extensively (too long to quote here) about the Allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit South-East Asia. BTW, Hasegawa did a 1/48 kit (Kit number SP10) of an A6M5 Type 52 with ATAIU markings included.
