Garmin GTX 330 Transponder

I'm thinking of adding the GTX 330 transponder to get traffic on my 430. Has
anyone done this and is it worth the price(what did it cost)? I fly mostly in
the eastern US and believe that there is pretty good coverage here.

I have a GTX 330 installed in a Baron as well as an Extra. In my opinion it
is one of the most valuable avionics upgrades you can buy- it's simply
amazing how much traffic is out there that you never pick up visually, even
with a good scan. Definitely worth the investment, which as I recall was
around $3500 installed.

If you ever get a chance to fly with one you'll be convinced immediately.

Ditto what Viperdoc said. I'm also on the east coast (NJ) and feel it
is worth its worth in gold. Mine is mounted in my Beech Sundowner.

Thanks to you and Viperdoc for helping me spend moneyG. Signed to get the
unit installed in my Archer. Cost about $4k and should be in the first of
March. Thanks for the comments.

I also recommend spending $40 more and getting the Davtron C307PS
temperature probe (contact Davtron sales directly). This can
interface to the GTX-330 and will then display OAT and Density
Altitude. The little probe can poke through the fuselage in a
convenient spot (mine's just below/forward of the side pilot window).
I'm getting ready to replace my windshields and didn't want to poke
the analog probe through the new glass.
