Been unable to post to Naviter forum so asking here...
I am using SeeYouMobile 4.34. I have SN-10 properly wired to PDA and SeeYouMobile set to SN-10 for hardware setting. Will SeeYouMobile use the SN-10 wind value (from NMEA data) for its final glide calculation? Thanks in advance for reply! John |

I have my GPS to the SN10 and the SN10 sending winds and Vario to the Oudie. |

Thanks "K"...I guess what I'm concerned about is whether SeeYouMobile actually *uses* that received wind value for final glide calcs. John |

Incidentally which wind algorithm would you trust more, that from SYM or that from SN10?
I would expect SYM to make its own wind calculation but that is only a guess. |

It's my understanding that SN-10 NMEA data doesn't provide airspeed. So I would prefer SYM to use the SN-10 wind value for its final glide calcs. I've been unable to find any SYM documentation, posts, etc. indicating this is the case. Hoping someone visiting this forum may have that answer...sent similar question to Naviter support, but haven't heard back. John |

We do not use the wind as calculated in the SN10. Instead we read Indicated Airspeed and calculate our own wind. Any other vario which sends IAS/TAS information will give the same winds in SeeYou Mobile." |

Hi John,
Yes. The versions of SeeYou after about March of 2012 do use the SN10 wind data. It was requested by Gordon Boettger and provided by Naviter very quickly. Gordon confirmed that it worked great. If I remember correctly, the SN10 also sends out a number that represents how reliable the wind data is and SeeYou Mobile uses that number to determine whether or not to use the SN10's wind data. Oops. Totally my bad. What Paul says is correct.
My answer is valid for everything else other than the SN10. Sorry about that. |
