I posted several pictures that I took at the NWEAA Fly-in over on
alt.binaries.pictures.aviation. I flew in with a few friends on Saturday morning. You can see such notable sights as Paul Anton and his Ercoupe and a 1917 Curtiss Jenny. I got to meet Paul's wife, Winona. I think Winona was a little startled to see what I look like after that thread on old pilots. ;-) The weather was marginal VFR in the morning; we flew the localizer approach, but by mid-day there were sun breaks and the sky took on a very dramatic appearance. I thought the fly-in was especially good this year. They dropped the bowing helicopter routine (yay!) and the Cessna 150 Aerobat routine (boo!). The formation aerobatic show of two airplanes, a T-6 and Yak 55, flown by Bud and Ross Granley was absolutely incredible. Despite the differences between these two planes the Granleys seemed to be able to do whatever they wanted with them. http://hometown.aol.com/cobra1444/my...e/profile.html The Diamond DA-40 was there with its Garmin G-1000 cockpit, courtesy of Galvin. Hillsboro Aviation was there, but Cessna did not see fit to display the G-1000 equipped Skylane or, for that matter, any new airplanes. In fact, Cessna refused to spend even one dime on exhibiting there. Garmin had no G-1000 cockpits on display and the panel might not even have existed as far as Garmin was concerned. Instead, the Garmin booth displayed the CNX-80 and the MX-20. None of the vendors had any Garmin 296s left by Saturday. Wayne Sargent was there with his Hyperbipe; there were two or three of these there this year. Favorite things I saw were the Titan T-51 Mustang replica, an RV (an RV, not the plane) that looked like it belonged in a Mad Max movie, some beautiful Stearmans (Stearmen?), and many other biplanes. Okay, I have a soft spot for biplanes. The flea market was much smaller this year due to the death of one of its major exhibitors from diabetes. -- Christopher J.
