I'm going to a gathering in Pittsburg, at:
Comfort Inn Pitsburgh EAST 699 Rodi Road Pittsburgh Pa. The woman at the hotel said the closest airport was 30 mins away, in West Mifflin, PA. No amount of web searching will turn up an identifier for it, and I'm not familiar with the area. Anyone have an ID for the airport, or can recommend something closer? Thanks! She might be talking about this airport. It's not in West Mifflin, but close

Airnav's advanced search function is perfect for this sort of thing.
http://www.airnav.com/airports/search.html 4G0 and KAGC are close. |

Tina, She's referring to Allegheny County (AGC). I'm based at McVille (P37), which is north of Pittsburgh. AGC should serve your needs well. It's a fairly busy class D, and if memory serves there are several FBOs to choose from. One thing to keep in mind is when you'll be getting in to town - traffic can get a little snarled in the city. On the upside, it's not a very far drive from your hotel in Monroeville. 4G0 is directly *in* Monroeville; literally on top of your hotel. But I don't know anything about the airport and quite honestly have never noticed it. If it were me, I'd go with AGC. -Kay email: remove "ns" from aviationns |
