It has been about ~2 years since the last RAS article on this radio. At that time things were very positive.
Now that time has elapsed some birthing pains may had become apparent. This is similar to the early Microaires which definitely had some pains during the early days - but which seems to have quieted down (IMHO - if you have an early Microaire radio and have not sent your radio in for the latest service updates it is well worth it). I want to know if anyone has any positive or negative feedback that would be useful for potential buyers of the Flightline radio. - John "67" |

I've had mine about 9 months in service so no comment on longevity, but it works fine, TX and RX clarity seems equal to any aircraft radio I've used including the expensive Garmin stuff in powered aircraft. The comparatively high published power draw against other radios isn't an issue, I have a regular old 9ah SLA battery for radio + vario + Oudie and it all runs well on 5+ hour flights.

I have installed in my own current gliders, (3) FL-760's at this time (I
have all or part ownership of several gliders) have installed at least 3 more in our club member gliders over the past 2 or 3 years and have had absolutely ZERO radio failures with the FL-760's...the best way I can say it is "everytime I hit the PTT to call someone.they answer!" I'm not sure what more you should expect from a comm transceiver...... I sold at least a couple hundred FL-760 when I had W&W and I can remember maybe 2? actual problems traced back to the radio and not to owner installtion issues......... so IMHO these were outstanding in reliability and owner satisfaction.....just a fine littel radio . Don't listen to the hogwash from others who claimed high current drain, ect etc....that is so not an issue with these tim "Six-Seven" wrote in message ...
