State Record Rules Question

The rules for World records prohibit claiming more than one distance and
one speed task for a flight. I've heard that this may apply to U.S.
records as well as State records as well. These particular categories
are not a part of Section 3.

A quick check of the SSA website doesn't bring up a link to either U.S.
rules or State rules right off the bat.

1. Anyone know if multiple claims are now prohibited in U.S. records
claims or State record claims?

2. Either way, is there a link out there to the "rules" for both U.S.
records and State records?

I haven't checked the rules recently. Several years ago, I had a multiple
claim for state records denied. Declaration was set up for a modest O&R
distance. It was a good day, and went twice as far for a free O&R claim.
A former badge lady denied one of them, saying it wouldn't be "sporting"
to allow both claims. The state record keeper didn't see any problem, but
the OO said some advisory board had discussed the issue previously, and
decided that having two "routes" for a flight should not be allowed. It
sure hadn't shown up in the rules at that time.

I think the issue stems from a deep-rooted misunderstanding of what a flight
declaration is. Some people think you're declaring what claim(s) you'll
be applying for after the flight. The rules are very clear that that's not
part of the declaration.

The ultimate irony is the OO on my flight just got awarded two state claims
for a flight of his -- an O&R, and a free O&R, for the very same flight!

US records pretty much follow the FAI. This is a new rule for this
year. Until last year it was possible to claim every distance that
applied to a particular flight. I've claimed 4-5 on a single flight on
a couple occasions.

addendum. It might even be part of the application form.

You should have gotten the 2 records as long as you flew through the OZ
of the shorter declared task.

Under the new rules, he may claim the O&R speed and either O&R distance
or free O&R distance - his choice. Used to be one could claim both,
and maybe even a free 3-TP as well.

When doing a large speed triangle that has never been completed in a
particular state, the distance can now only be claimed once.
