Dear Jim:
In your June 2002 Kitplanes article on soldering BNC connectors, I came to a dead end at step 7. The clamp isn't mentioned until step 7. I don't understand how to wrap the braid around and over the clamp--which apparently goes on after soldering the pin to the center conductor and flaring the braid to 90 degrees--and get it to touch the black sheath jacket. If you put the clamp on after soldering the pin, the only way you can wrap the braid over the clamp is by pulling it towards the cut end, over the clamp, and there isn't any black sheath jacket in that direction. Can you clarify this step? Thanks John |
