Default I ordered a 396 from Sporty's...

Anybody want to tell me why I shouldn't do it?

Actually I'd welcome hearing about what anyone at Oshkosh has to say
about what they see and hear.

I can't wait, Christmas in August - Cheap ******* on 'roids (and with a
bill)

Not I. My Visa card is quivering in fear even as we speak.

Wilco, if I can get near the Garmin booth..

Did they have it in stock?

I think you've come to the wrong place to be talked out of that
particular purchase. I've been salivating over it for a while.

If it's as good as it looks I'll be getting on as my present to myself
when I pass the instrument check ride.

I can't wait to hear your review of it.

I wonder if the XM weather stuff can be used while in car mode? It
would be cool to know if you are driving toward storms or not.

Man, if that display were only about twice as long and twice as
high... Still, I'm probably going to end up getting one even if I
would rather have a tablet PC display.

I'm number 91 on JA Air's order list. Sure wish I could have it for the Oshkosh
trip. They say I should get it in the first two weeks of August.

My wife found out about it, so I can expect there will be some additional
expenses. ;-)

Hey, Maule, I just received an email from Aviation Consumer announcing a
seven page advance review of the 396 they were able to compile after flying
with the unit for three days.

If you have an online subscription to their website, you can read the
report he

Here are the article title and next sentence as a teaser:

--------- start quote --------------

Garmin¢s 396: Best Datalink Yet

It pains us to gush too much, but the 396¢s weatherlink performance
deserves kudos. XM audio and terrain warnings are nice-to-have pluses.

--------- end quote --------------

How would I de-spam your email, in the event I wanted to ask you a question
off-line?

Better still, send me an email at: (remove the capital
letter).
