Are there any aviation insurance underwriters on the group?
I'd like to understand better the factors that go into insuring a customer. For example, I put in a claim for damages which occured during training, when I was not the PIC. I'd like to understand if the insurance underwriter is looking simply at the fact that I had a claim, or if he's also looking at 'who caused the problem', or what. - Mike |

They look at what the cause was. I had a partner that had crashed a
Mooney complete with 4 serious injuries and a totalled plane. He bought in on my plane w/o any increase in premium because the insurance company decided the cause of the crash was mechanical (I don't think they care too much about the NTSB's opinion). -Robert |

When I talked to both my agent(s) and Avemco, they took a description of my engine failure and said that it would not affect my ability to get insurance or the premiums. However, having a high hull value 55 year old airplane is getting hard to insure these days anyhow,. |
