A friend has a laptop that he uses with a GPS moving map. I can't remember
what program he uses, but he would like to be able to overlay weather on his existing program. Anyone know how to do that? -- Jim in NC |

I used wx works on a laptop & a TPad 800 for a while before I got my NavAero
computer. Doable if you watch the cables. I had to get a transformer (24v to 12v) and a converter because the laptop would not run 3 hours. Also, watch the hard drive. Will it run at 9-11,000 ft? -- Thx, {|;-) Victor J. (Jim) Osborne, Jr. "Jim Burns" wrote in message ... Hey Jim, what about http://www.wxworx.com/? Jim Burns "Morgans" wrote in message ... I have a Fujitsu ST4121 and have approx 150 hours on it in the cockpit. I regularly fly at 11.5k. No problems yet... But hard drive crash due to high density altitude is a potential problem. |

I didn't have any problems on my laptop (Compaq) but my NavAero crashes
anytime I fly above 10,000ft for two or more hours. Five flights, five crashes. No problem at up to 9,000. In fact, 9,500 VFR from Atlanta yesterday, no prob. YRMV, {|;-) Victor J. ![]() Morgans, I am in the process of trying to do the same thing. My T43 laptop should arrive in few days. My plan is use the blue tooth connection for GPS, XM weather and to use an 8" LCD touchsreen display (Lilliput or Xenarc) for XMweather and approach plates with moving map. I only know of two software options for XMweather and moving map on tabletPC/laptop 1. NAVAirWX http://www.airgator.com/ http://www.airgator.com/Weather.htm 2. Anywhere XM WX For Windows XP http://www.anywheremap.com/detail.aspx?ID=93 The discussion board at controlvision is a great place to learn about hardware/software options http://forum.anywheremap.com/ Hai Longworth |

I don't kneaux of any software that XM can be added to, that wasn't already specifically compatible... Definitely nothing free - yet!!! |

Anyone know how to do that? I would probably steer away from the AirGator products and toward AnywhereMap XP or some of the RMSTek products (FlightSoft/Vista). I believe that the latter can overlay weather on top of sectional/enroute raster charts. WxWorx on Wings is a great package for weather display, but not so great for navigation. However, it provides the most impressive weather display that I've seen so far. JKG |
