Last week I went for my annual eye exam and they sent me off for further
testing to see if I may have Glaucoma. This was not because I have any vision loss or anything, simply based upon family history. With that said, if I assume that my testing (which is scheduled for next Friday) says something isn't right and they say I have Glaucoma, what does that mean for my current medical certificate? -- Mike Flyin'8 PP-ASEL Temecula, CA http://flying.4alexanders.com |

It doesn't mean anything for your current medical certificate, so long as you have no vision loss. You'll need to have your opthalmologist fill out a special form (available on the AOPA web site) and bring that to your AME at your next physical. If you have "open-angle" glaucoma, and there is no visual loss, he will issue you your medical. Ron (EPM) (N5843Q, Mooney M20E) (CP, ASEL, ASES, IA) |

Let's just hope this turns out to be a non-issue. -- Mike Flyin'8 PP-ASEL Temecula, CA http://flying.4alexanders.com |
