Does anyone have any info or experience with the Colibri "Black Box"
(Colibri without display or buttons)? Cost? USB connector, like newest Colibri? Does it really exist? Kirk 66 |

Hi Kirk,
That is an interesting question. I had been told many times by someone that the BB version did not exist. But upon asking the factory they said yes, it does exist and it is available. I don't think they have sold very many of them though. I think the issue is that the cost is very little less than the standard Colibri (with LCD and keypad) so they don't market it. I would agree that it would seem silly to save $50 to get a unit that would be more difficult to sell in the future. I will ask again for the price. I don't know if the USB version is available. I'll ask. Paul Remde Cumulus Soaring, Inc. http://www.cumulus-soaring.com wrote in message ups.com... Paul,
Thanks, I'd be interested in the status of the Black Box. For me (at least) it makes more sense to have a no-frills device: fewer things to go wrong, etc. As a lot of loggers are now installed as "blind" devices and operated via PDA interfaces, I don't really see resale as a future problem. Maybe LX has a few gathering dust on the shelf they want to get rid of! g Kirk 66 |

The BB exists. I have one in front of me.
Just a black box, same price as the ordinary Colibri, no USB port. You enter all settings via either LXe or your PDA. Works just like an ordinary Colibri. Excellent as a back up logger. Robert Danewid H304 "NS" |

Hi Kirk,
I'd be glad to order one for you. Please contact me if you are OK with the price being the same as the standard Colibri and the lack of a USB port. I'm not sure about the USB port item or the price yet. However, I must mention that any Colibri can be used as a BB. You don't need to use the keypad or LCD display. It starts logging when you start flying just like any BB. I wouldn't want to pay the same price for less features, but I guess it makes sense if you want it to be very simple.
