Has anyone used the Navman PiN 570 - PDA/Navigation Portable Handheld
Device in a glider with PDA navigation software? These have now dropped below $250 in the US and may be a better deal than a used iPAQ now. It comes with a built in GPS, cradle and gooseneck. It runs WM2003 and has a 266 MHz ARM processor, so it should be faster than an iPAQ 3800. |

It runs WM2003 and has a 266 MHz ARM processor, so it should be faster than an iPAQ 3800. I've never used one, but a quick search suggests this is an Acer N35 with slight (unspecified, but the casing is different) alterations. Assuming that's the case: It uses the Toppoly TD035STEB1 display, which is shared by the Acer N30 Acer N35 Acer N50 ASUS A620 ASUS A620BT so any good or bad stories you can uncover about the displays on those units should apply here too. Take this all with a grain of salt though - this information is taken from third parties (in this case, suppliers of spare LCD screens) and could be inaccurate! I think the Samsung 266Mhz processor used in this unit is meant to be roughly as fast as a 400Mhz StrongARM processor, and certainly should eclipse the 206Mhz ARM processor on the iPAQ 3850. The iPAQ 3800 series still has that nice big display that's crystal clear in sunlight though. |
