Does anyone know of any more plans for a Discovery Wings-type channel?
It just seems like there would still be enough interest to support a TV
channel devoted just to flying. Thoughts?

Not that Wings covered aviation very well anyway. If I ran a network named
Wings I think I'd probably just move the whole damn operation to OSH once a
year for the whole week of Airventure.

The "Wings Channel", *Renamed* the Military Channel had a fair amount
of good stuff to begin, but after about 6 months or so it was the same
old stuff again and again with just an occasional new show.

There is some on the outdoor Channel (153), and some on OLN AND Vs
which appear to share ( channel151)? They are almost adjacent on the
tuner have some aviation related stuff. Also there is "The Men's
Channel" which has "Sport Pilot" (Ch 218, DISH Network) which
usually covers a couple of airplanes, and/or pilots in each 30 minute
segment. They have a new show each week and it is repeated a couple
of times during the week. One segment is 10:30 tonight (Saturday)

They are not limited to just "Sport Pilots", but cover every thing
from flying parachutes to the F-22 Raptor. The had one with quite a
bit on Van's aircraft and a relatively long interview. The Javelin was
featured a few weeks back. Last week was old war birds and a segment
on the Thunderbirds.

Not that Wings covered aviation very well anyway. If I ran a network named
Wings I think I'd probably just move the whole damn operation to OSH once a

The "Wings Channel", *Renamed* the Military Channel...

Is this because there is more interest in warbirds, or because there is
a lot of old warbird footage that can be inexpensively reused, or
because the cross section of people interested in aviation largely
overlaps the people interested in guns, motorcycles, and wars... or
what? Any ideas?

The Outdoor Life Network(OLN) is no longer. It is now called
Vs(Versus). They have the NHL now and are getting away from strictly
outdoors shows and are basically turning into a sports network.

DireTV was one of the big providers for that network, they switched to
"The Military Channel" about a year ago. It shows much of the same
programming though.

The only channel that still has aviation related stuff on it around here is
the "Outdoor Channel", go figure.
It is an excellent weekly program called "Wings to Adventure".
They have been on for a couple of seasons and have plans to produce DVD's of
previous seasons.

Productions geared toward the flying community would be awesome but
unfortunately, we're a small percentage of a fraction of a niche of the
population.
