I stopped flying 8 years ago and am ready to get back into it. I took my
BFR yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that my flying skills were still intact. I thought I would need a couple of hours dual, but pulled off the BFR in 1.0 flight time. Now all I need is for the weather in New York to warm up so I can go get my Taylorcraft. Danny Deger |

The Taylorcraft makes a lot of sense. I find that when giving a BFR to pilots that have been out for awhile they generally are still very good at the stick. Where they need work is usually on the radios and FARs. However, I believe a BFR should be suited to the pilot, so a Taylorcraft pilot doesn't need to get drilled on airspace, radios, etc to the extent that a Bonanza pilot does (unless you tell your CFI that you plan to take your Taylorcraft into class B on a regular basis ![]() Its a good thing the FAA still allows us this freedom. The talk is that the FAA wants to restrict this and make the BFR more like the IPC (the IPC has a very detailed list of things you must do contained in the IR PTS). -Robert |
