OK, is there such a thing as a "C-5" burger served at Travis AFB?

Back a few years, when there was a terminal cafeteria, there was indeed a
(1/2 lb?) C-5 burger. Also a smaller C-141 sandwich. Unfortunately, the cafeteria is gone and with it the specialized burgers. I believe the tiny AAFES snack bar that replaced it has just the standard "hamburger." Curt "miso" wrote in message om... OK, is there such a thing as a "C-5" burger served at Travis AFB? |

Totally off topic: I'm heading to a Taxi location in downtown Palo Alto (or one of their other locations) for a Mushroom Swiss Burger and a side of Onion Rings. Usually add a Mug Root Beer. What ever happened to Kirks? JK |

I've been to the Kirks in Palo Alto many years ago. I think it was on
California. I've also been to the one in Lost Altos about two years ago. In 1964 there was a Kirk's just a few blocks from my first apt. in No. Cal. in Santa Clara but a new freeway forced them to relocate to the 361 N. California spot. The is also one in San Jose, perhaps on Bascom. I was at Mountain View
Surplus (a place I'm sure a few people on this list have visited since they carry mil surplus) a few weeks ago and hit a Kirks nearby. I hadn't had such a fat injection in years, not that I needed any more fat. Oh yeah, Mountain View surplus has two stores: one in (duh) Mountain View and one in Campbell. The Campbell store is the place to go for the real thing. In fact, some of the stuff they sell makes me nervous, like who really has to paint their face black??? "Jim Knoyle" wrote in message ... I remember the bowling alley at Misawa AB in Japan used to sell a "Bowl Burger". Don't know which was better, the huge amount of meat and fixings that came with it or the Swedish dependant wife that worked the counter. Yum. -Jeff B. yeff at erols dot com |

Well damn, though I doubt I could get on base to eat one. A local talk
show host did a thing on the best burgers, and a guy called up about the C-5 burger. He described it as a full pound, which seems hard to believe, but then again a C-5 is pretty big. I guess there must be a AN124 burger that is the full pound. "C Knowles" wrote in message om... Back a few years, when there was a terminal cafeteria, there was indeed a (1/2 lb?) C-5 burger.
