And the truck was just pulling the trailer which the flyer was transported in (which was apparently not stolen). |

![]() "Big John" wrote in message ... they don't a 'puller' (7000# rating) then no getting to VA for celebration I guess???? ![]() What celebration in VA? This one isn't the one that's going to fly at Kitty Hawk (which is in North Carolina) on Dec. 17. There are at least three companies building 1903 Flyer replicas. The one that's going to fly (built by the Wright Experience for the EAA and partners) is currently down headed for the NBAA which is the last public exhibition of the thing before it Kitty Hawk party. |

My wife thru the paper away before I got back home.
To answer the questions. Yes. Yes We have so many rip offs here in Houston where a family moves here and spends the night in a Motel and all their worldly goods are gone the next morning (bummer). With some publicity I'm sure they will get a 'hauller' to get where they are going. They need to go to the local paper up there and get a front page article on the loss. Probab;y even a truck dealer might loan them one for the trip if they put the guy's name and address on it??? In any event. Best of luck. Speaking of Kitty Hawk, I was searching on info on how badly they got
hit with the hurricane. It seems the park survived OK, but the road on the island got torn up pretty bad. I just hope I can still go to see the Temptations on the 14th. With my quick scan I didn't see anything mentioned in the group. Does anyone have onfo on how things will be in Dec.? Depending on where you're interested in going on the Outer Banks, it could be interesting. I read a new half-mile wide inlet was created north (?) of Hatteras Village and another waterway to the south, cutting that town off. However, according to AVWeb (and I quote): Wright Site Undamaged By Isabel The Wright Brothers went to Kitty Hawk for the wind but they would have been blown away by conditions last week. The historic site of the first powered, sustained flight escaped undamaged when Hurricane Isabel made landfall on the Outer Banks. "There's a little bit of standing water. We fared well," National Parks Service spokeswoman Mary Doll told AVweb. "Wright Brothers (Memorial) really sustained no damage." She said a couple of nearby airport runways were covered in sand washed in by the storm surge but they were quickly cleared. There was also some building damage in nearby communities. Of course, no promises between now and then. I'm flying down (commercial) to NC in November and have made arrangements to rent and fly from RDU to FFA to meet my mandatory pilgrimage requirement... and also to beat the crowd. Eric |
