Read online newspapers from different countries. The usage of colloquialisms is a worldwide phenomena and the only constraint upon reporters is they report . Look at the rubbish about flying that appears in papers and on TV. Example: It was reported that a Cessna had no nose gear light so the 'student pilot' with three passengers onboard carried out a forced landing. Except the aircraft was a Piper Saratoga and the pilot was (as you've guessed by now ) a commercial pilot But, then, I heard a local TV "journalist" last week pronounce a certain *disease as "Choe-Lear'-ia".
