hi: ok, it looks like I will need an engine in the 300hp range that
is certified. I really dislike the old and noisy lycomings and continentals. the bombardier looks like a ways away. are there any other reasonably good certificated choices? /iaw |

Your requirements are pretty much mutually exclusive. Perhaps the SMA diesel, although I think it's only 250 hp... You also need to qualify "certified" for what? I'll certify you a small-block Chevy 300hp if you want. Anybody got a pen? Talking with SMA at Oshkosh, found out their "diesels" are currently only certified for Jet-A. Thielert can run regular diesel fuel in their 135 HP 1.7 liter model - don't know where they are with a 300 hp engine. -- Montblack |

"Diesel" is used as a technology, not the fuel. As I understand it, Jet A
is more readily available at European airports than 100LL. "Montblack" wrote in message .. . (Cory wrote) Your requirements are pretty much mutually exclusive. Trouble is, most people look at you funny when you say "compression ignition engine," but a "diesel" engine that you run Jet-A in makes perfect sense.
