I think you gona Win some hp, that you were loosing to preignition
particullarly if you use autogas, because the effect is the same of predetonation, wich stole a lot of power and make excessive heating and wearing. The retard brings the explosion to the best time, producing power (pression) already when the piston is starting to go down.
